Blacklight: Tango Down

IGNITION ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES THAT THIS SUMMER'S MOST ANTICIPATED FIRST- PERSON SHOOTER IS AVAILABLE JULY 7TH FOR DOWNLOAD ON XBOX LIVE

Bringing a AAA multi-player experience to Xbox Live, this futuristic shooter delivers 12 maps, new game types, co-op missions and trillions of weapon combinations all for 1200 Microsoft Points.
Glendale, CA July 6, 2010 After months of anticipation and an overwhelmingly positive reception at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo, Ignition Entertainment announced that BlackLight: Tango Down will be available for download on Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft tomorrow (July 7th). The futuristic shooter brings non-stop fun and an exhilarating experience to the DLC venue as it offers 12 multiplayer maps, seven game types, four co-op missions and literally trillions of weapon combinations all for 1200 Microsoft Points. Following its release on XBLA tomorrow, the game will be arriving on PlayStation Network and Games for Windows Live in the coming weeks.

In BlackLight: Tango Down, players are equipped with high-tech, futuristic gear that makes combat fascinating and surreal. Its weapon customization system allows for trillions of different configurations that deliver unlimited adaptability and variety of gameplay. Each player is also equipped with a Hyper Reality Visor (HRV), an advanced imaging system in the player's Heads up Display that detects nearby enemy and friendly forces and relays the information back to players, giving them immediate battlefield intelligence.

While the weapon customization system and Hyper-Reality Visor may seem like science fiction, the technology featured in the game isnt too far from creation in real life. The weapon customization system is based on the core weapons that our soldiers have been using since the 1960's. The HRV uses cell phone towers and satellites to detect nearby enemy and friendly forces and identifies nearby objectives including health and ammo stations.

At this year's E3, BlackLight: Tango Down stood up against the AAA retail behemoths and received numerous accolades including a Best Shooter Nomination from IGN.com, Best Online Multiplayer Nomination from Machinima.com and BitMob's Jasmine Rae included the game in her Top Ten Games of E3.

The video game is also an introduction to the BlackLight franchise, poised to be one of the next major entertainment properties. As opposed to the traditional way of launching a franchise, through one genre and then expanding to the others after it achieves a certain level of success, BlackLight already has a major motion picture from 20th Century Fox, a comic book and novel that are in development.

Activision countersues 'Modern Warfare' execs

Videogame publisher says duo breached contract

Activision filed a countersuit against two of its senior executives responsible for the "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" game, claiming that they undermined the company by threatening to poach employees and delaying development of sequels.

Jason West and Vince Zampella, executives in Activision's Infinity Ward unit, filed suit against Activision last month, seeking more than $36 million, after they were fired for insubordination. They claimed that the company's motive was to avoid paying them royalties for their work on the franchise.

Their former employer, in a suit filed on Thursday in Los Angeles Superior Court, says the duo "morphed from valued, responsible executives into insubordinate and self-serving schemers who attempted to hijack Activision's assets for their own personal gain and whose actions threatened both the future of the 'Call of Duty' franchise and the future of Activision's IW studio."

Infinity Ward made last year's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2," one of the industry's top selling games of all time. The IW studio was formed by West, Zampella and others, but Activision bought it in 2003 and signed the two to exclusive contracts.

Activision paints a portrait of two disloyal employees who attempted to "steal" the Infinity Ward studio, even to the point of trying to block employees in the unit from obtaining bonuses or significant equity grants so they would have an easier time of poaching them once they were off on their own. Activision claims that they kept "millions of dollars of discrentionary compensation" for themselves instead of distributing it to other employees of the IW studio.

Among other things, Activision's suit claims that West and Zampella held future editions of the "Call of Duty" franchise "hostage" unless Activision "acceded to their demands." The company also charged that they embarked on a "secret trip" by private jet to Northern California, arranged by their agent, to meet with executives with Activision's closest competitor, although that company was not named in the suit. It is believed to be Electronic Arts. The suit quotes from e-mail exchanges between the two, which Activision claims is proof that they were trying to "covertly copy certain materials" and "keep their actions hidden."

Activision's suit seeks damages including back pay and certain equity stakes, as well as declarations prohibiting them from trying to poach company employees. They also seek an injunction preventing them from using company secrets to develop new games.

West and Zampella's attorney, Robert Schwartz, called Activision's allegations "false and outrageous" and challenged the notion that they conspired to spin off Infinity Ward.

"Activision itself proposed spinning off Infinity Ward when, last year, it sought to renegotiate Jason and Vince's contract to induce them to forego developing a new game in favor of doing another Modern Warfare sequel," he said.

Moreover, he said that they hired CAA to advise them in their negotiations with Activision, "not to breach their contract."

"This is just an Activision tactic to avoid paying Jason and Vince and everyone else at Infinity Ward the millions of dollars they all earned and that Activison owes them," he said.

WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCES F.E.A.R. 3

DIVERGENT CO-OP EVOLVES THE HORROR FIRST-PERSON SHOOTER FRANCHISE WITH CONSULTATION FROM HORROR MASTERMINDS JOHN CARPENTER AND STEVE NILES

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces F.E.A.R. 3, a heart-pounding paranormal horror first-person shooter unleashing intense combat, compelling narrative and co-op play that evolves the franchise. F.E.A.R. 3 is set to release on PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC in autumn 2010.

Alma returns in F.E.A.R. 3 but this time her sons Point Man and Paxton Fettel introduce divergent co-op, giving players distinctly different abilities affecting their own play as well as the experience of their co-op partner. Gamers participate in single player or co-op modes as Point Man, a genetically enhanced super soldier originally introduced in F.E.A.R., or they can play cooperatively as his conniving brother Paxton Fettel, whose incredible telekinetic power has given him life beyond the grave. The game is developed by Day 1 Studios, developer of the original F.E.A.R. console games in collaboration with Monolith Studios.

"Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is evolving the F.E.A.R. brand with top horror, co-op and first person shooter combat in F.E.A.R. 3," said Martin Tremblay, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. "Monolith Productions has passed the torch to Day 1 Studios to create a quality, powerful game that stays true to the roots of the F.E.A.R. franchise but takes players to a heightened level of gameplay."

To further ensure extreme terror in F.E.A.R. 3, legendary horror director John Carpenter (Halloween, Village of the Damned) and critically acclaimed horror comic and script writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) have provided consultation to enhance several of the games frightening aspects. Steve Niles co-wrote the game script with the development team and John Carpenter provided his expertise in crafting the in-game cinematics.

"After working closely with Monolith, Day 1 is honoured to bring the next iteration of the F.E.A.R. franchise to gamers with key elements of the past games yet providing fresh combat and horror experiences in F.E.A.R. 3," said Denny Thorley, Founder and President, Day 1 Studios. "Players can look forward to new features such as divergent co-op, an evolved cover system, and more scares in F.E.A.R. 3."

IGNITION ENTERTAINMENT UNVEILS DETAILS BEHIND UPCOMING SHOOTER BLACKLIGHT: TANGO

Game Back Story, Weapons and Setting New Multiplayer-Focused FPS Revealed.
Ignition Entertainment has revealed the first insight into the back story, setting and weapons of their upcoming multiplayer-focused first-person-shooter Blacklight: Tango Down, currently in development at Zombie Studios.

Blacklight Tango Down is a fully featured Unreal Engine 3.0-powered game set to release this summer exclusively through Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStationStore, and through digital distribution channels on PC, making it one of the most advanced games ever released solely through downloadable channels.

WHAT IS BLACKLIGHT?
Blacklight: Tango Down is set in the near future and revolves around a special operations military group called "Blacklight". Blacklight is the SECDEF's (Secretary of Defense's) personal direct action team comprised entirely of "Tier One Assets." These elite soldiers are extraordinary operators recruited from all branches of special operations, including Combat Applications Group (Delta), SF, DEVGRU (SEAL), RANGER, and CIA MSP. All combatants are hand-selected and trained specifically to be equipped to deal with fast-moving, ambiguous and unstructured situations. This is the player's role in the game.

THE WORLD OF BLACKLIGHT: TANGO DOWN
Blacklight: Tango Down's near-future setting is not that different from our own time and will appear hauntingly familiar to gamers but also distant enough to be surprising and unsettling. It is a universe that has been overtaken by the exploding speed of technological progress and is left suffering from the unbridled failures that those advances create.

The technological overbuild has created a bleak environment which has transformed once vibrant and familiar cityscapes into dark and endless virtual billboards and danger zones. An ongoing viral epidemic ravages society and the militarys drive to control and use the virus as a weapon has only created more devastating strains. Civilians and governments struggle through ongoing unrest. Order can only be imposed through force and fear.

The military's attempts to weaponise the virus has lead to what some call "Q-Fever" or SIV (Sentient Insanity Virus) and the people it infects are known as SIVs. The virus destroys a persons humanity, transforming them into frightening creatures that are less capable of utilizing tools but are far more aggressive and impervious to pain.

SCIENCE FACT, NOT FICTION
Blacklight: Tango Down is set in a universe that is based in Science Fact, not Science Fiction. The future combat technologies and weapons featured in the game are based on the bleeding-edge military developments and breakthroughs of today. Whereas currently, in our real world, these items may exist only in the laboratory or in conceptual designs, in Blacklight: Tango Down, these advanced military tools are deployed mainstream and make up the military reality of the game.

This "science fact" equipment includes exciting new future weapons and support systems, like EMP grenades that disable opponents electronic visors, Digi-Grenades that distort the optics of enemies, reactive body armor and widely customizable weapons. The most iconic piece of Blacklight technology is the "Hyper Reality Visor", a head piece that uses its own electronic pulse and nearby electro-magnetic fields to render the world in a new way, allowing soldiers to see what is otherwise invisible.

Free content pack will double the number of levels in the game

HELSINKI, FINLAND February 8, 2010 Futuremark Games Studio today released the first screenshots from the upcoming Moonrise content pack for Shattered Horizon, their PC exclusive multiplayer first-person shooter. The Moonrise pack, which will be free to all players, includes four new environments effectively doubling the number of levels in the game. http://www.shatteredhorizon.com/

In Shattered Horizon, a catastrophic explosion on the Moon has filled near-Earth space with billions of tons of rocky debris. Teams of players fight in zero gravity to control the limited supplies that mean the difference between survival and death in the cold of space.

The four Moonrise levels are set around the shattered Moon, taking the fight deeper into space and showing a new side to the conflict. The screenshots released today show hints of exotic new locations: an MMC cargo ship lured into a trap by the ISA, a huge mass driver installation, the broken remains of a luxury lunar hotel and fragments of what was a massive communications dish on the Moon.

Although a release date for the Moonrise pack has not yet been announced, Futuremark Games Studio confirmed that a small group of selected players is helping them test near-final content.

Cabin Fever Spread Through Combat Arms, Over 278 Million Zombies Defeated

It's been two weeks since Nexon America released the new Cabin Fever game mode in its multiplayer online first-person shooter Combat Arms, and there has been more than 452,000 matches played with 278 million marauding zombies wiped out. Cabin Fever, a cooperative, team-based mode drops players into an abandoned building where they're beset by brain-thirsty zombies.

The enormous number of games played during the first week - 1,300 matches played every hour, have taken a toll on the heroic soldiers fending off the infected, with more than 4.4 million deaths at the bloody hands of the undead hordes. The infected zombies don't come unarmed, some splatter on impact or carry explosives that unleash a wave of mutilation. Special high-powered zombies deliver massive pain. So even with an average of 655 zombies killed every match, it's not easy to defeat the infected. Fewer than 10 percent of the matches are successfully completed, and only three percent of the matches played at Extreme (the hardest level) end with soldiers keeping their brains intact.

Cabin Fever has spread across our servers like the very mutation players are trying to stop in the game, said Graham Kays, Producer for Combat Arms. Players might take their lumps in the end but they're enjoying the ride so much they keep coming back to kill more and more zombies.
